God's Beginning
Where did He come from?
1. God was in the beginning.
Genesis 1:1
"In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth."
Note: "In the beginning God" = All other philosophies of man begin
with man in search for a God if there be one. He was the creator of
all things.
John 1:1-3
"In the beginning was the Word, and
the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the
beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was
not any thing made that was made."
Note: This is a reference to Jesus. Everything that was made was made
by Him. This indicates ownership and authority.
2. God is the total.
Revelation 1:8, 11 "I am Alpha
and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which
was, and which is to come, the Almighty. (11) Saying, I am Alpha and
Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and
send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto
Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto
Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea."
Note: He is the total alphabet (A-Z).
Colossians 1:17
"And he is before all things and
by him all things consist."
Note: The idea is that all things are held together by Him.
3. There is no God but God.
Deuteronomy 4:35 "Unto thee it was shewed,
that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside
him."
Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD
our God is one LORD: "
II Samuel 7:22 "Wherefore thou art great,
O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside
thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears."
I Chronicles 17:20 "O LORD, there is none
like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we
have heard with our ears."
Psalms 86:10 "For thou art great, and
doest wondrous things: thou art God alone."
4. No other God was formed before or after God.
Isaiah 43:10 "Ye are my witnesses,
saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and
believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed,
neither shall there be after me."
Note: God is the creator, and he created no gods. Man by his
imagination creates gods.
Isaiah 46:9-10 "Remember the former things
of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none
like me, Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times
the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will
do all my pleasure:"
Note: Nothing compares to God.
5. God is one God.
Psalms 83:18 "That men may know that thou,
whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth."
Note: "Jehovah" = Yehweh = "I AM"
Mark 12:29 "And Jesus answered him, The
first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one
Lord:"
I Corinthians 8:4-6 "As concerning
therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto
idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none
other God but one. For though there be that are called gods,
whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,)
But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we
in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by
him."
6. God is eternal.
Deuteronomy 33:27 "The eternal God
is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust
out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them."
Hebrews 13:8
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday,
and to day, and for ever."
Note: God never changes.
7. God's kingdom is sovereign
and eternal.
Psalms 45:6 "Thy throne, O
God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre."
Psalms 47:2 "For the LORD most high is
terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
Psalms 75:6-7 "For promotion cometh
neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another."
Daniel 4:17
"This matter is by the decree
of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent
that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men,
and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of
men."
Note: Governments and world leaders rise and fall, but God remains the sovereign
forever.
